Concept Mapping
Kick-off meetings, checklists, and planning documents provide the raw material to map out ideas and objects both conceptually and physically. In this phase we also dig into the exhibition planning team’s goals and priorities for the show.

Developing Look & Feel
Initial concepts present a few distinct design directions for the team to consider. Over the course of design development, we will refine the colors, materials, casework design, and lighting approach that define the exhibition’s mood and best present the objects

For instance this demonstration render illustrates how lighting might be approached in a featured showcase.
Exhibition Layout
The exhibition development process also refines the layout of the exhibition. Together we will explore the arrangement of objects, ensuring that we’re telling the best story possible. At the same time, visitor circulation and ADA accessibility are addressed to maximize a positive visitor experience.

Production Problem-Solving
While museums often maintain standard exhibition casework, many objects or presentations require special display needs. Together with the client team and selected fabricators, the Studio identifies fabrication solutions for unique circumstances. Prototyping can help the client team visualize final finishes and determine implementation strategies.

Installation Documentation
Heading into the implementation phase, clients receive gallery plans and elevations. These support build-out of the gallery as well as object installation. Casework drawings and specification sheets provide fabricators with the information they need to translate the design intent into reality – on time and within budget.
Graphic Development
Depending on project scope, the Studio can provide graphic design services or collaborate with the graphic designer of your choice. Key gallery graphics will be integrated into gallery models and presentation renderings, so the client team can visualize the full exhibition experience.
